The methodology

Six real frameworks, documented.

Framework

Readiness Score

Measures: The Comprehensive Health Diagnostic scores 52 questions across 13 real domains: Leadership and Governance, Financial Health, Revenue Resilience, Operations and Technology, People and Organizational Capacity, and more, into one weighted 0-100 score, placed on a five-tier band from Significant Foundational Risk to Strong and Well-Positioned.

Why it matters: A single number that reflects the whole organization, not just the finances, so a strong balance sheet can't hide a governance gap, and vice versa.

Used in: Diagnostic Engine, referenced across Command Center and every other tool's AI advisor.

Framework

Concentration & Resilience Score

Measures: The share of revenue held by your top source, and a 0-100 resilience score built from diversification, unrestricted share, and how much revenue you've earned yourself versus received as grants or gifts.

Why it matters: A resilience score below 55 ("high concentration") or below 35 ("critical concentration") flags a budget that's structurally exposed to a single funder's decision, not a vague warning, a specific, documented threshold.

Used in: Command Center, Revenue Resilience domain of the Diagnostic Engine.

Framework

Sliding Scale Tier Generation

Measures: Fee tiers (3 to 6 of them) generated from real federal poverty level bands relative to household size, each priced as a percentage of full price. Break-even and coverage percentages are calculated from expected enrollment, cohort frequency, and your program's true annualized cost.

Why it matters: Tiers built from real FPL thresholds, not arbitrary splits, the same standard a benefits program would use, applied to your program's actual cost structure.

Used in: Sliding Scale Builder.

Framework

Income Stream Fit & Readiness Scoring

Measures: Every stream in the 42-stream catalog is scored 0-100 for fit (mission and revenue alignment) and 0-100 for readiness (your capacity to execute now), placed into one of 6 status categories from Pursue Now to Not Legally or Structurally Appropriate, each with a confidence level reflecting data quality.

Why it matters: Mission alignment is weighed before revenue potential, and the model is deliberately capacity-aware, a small staff with no earned-income experience won't get an enterprise-level recommendation.

Used in: Income Stream Builder.

Framework

Hybrid Model Readiness Assessment

Measures: 50 questions across 10 categories, each scored A through E (5 to 1 points), for a maximum of 250 points, the original instrument FundWisr's methodology is built on.

Why it matters: The deepest single readiness instrument in the platform, purpose-built for organizations weighing a hybrid nonprofit or social enterprise structure.

Used in: Diagnostic Engine.

Framework

Grant Fit Scoring

Measures: Every AI-searched grant opportunity is scored for readiness against your actual Keystone profile, eligibility, geography, focus area, financial documentation, with the specific missing items holding the score back.

Why it matters: A thin profile is flagged as unscoreable rather than given a guessed number, so a high score always means something real.

Used in: Grant Intelligence.

Questions, answered plainly.

Is this proprietary to FundWisr, or based on published research?+

Both. The core methodology is built from Tracy Vallen's 28 years as a nonprofit, social-impact, and funding strategist, refined and formalized into the named frameworks documented here.

Can I use these frameworks outside the platform?+

The frameworks are documented here for transparency, so you understand exactly what's behind your score. Running your own numbers through them at scale requires a FundWisr account.

Do the frameworks change over time?+

Yes, as the methodology is refined. Updates that affect how scores are calculated are logged in the Changelog.
