Scaling multiplies what you already are

The diagnostic asks whether a proven model can be expanded, replicated, or grown without breaking quality, finances, or mission. Those four are the things that break, in roughly that order.

What the tool gives you

  • Growth initiatives with financial projections attached, so an expansion has numbers rather than enthusiasm.
  • Milestones, so the plan has checkpoints where somebody can say it is not working.
  • Scenario planning, so you can look at what happens if the money is late, the hiring is slow, or the demand is half what you assumed.
  • A scaling advisor that answers against your own capacity, revenue and program records rather than in general.

Growth is not the only answer

Replication, partnership, licensing your model to somebody else, and deliberately staying the size you are, are all legitimate outcomes of thinking about scale. Deciding to stay small on purpose, with reasons recorded, is a strategic decision. Drifting at the same size without deciding is not.
