Strengthening the organization
Strategy & Execution
Turning a plan into goals with owners, dates and measures, and initiatives that either move them or do not.
Where the strategy itself lives
Your vision, mission, values and strategic priorities are part of your organization profile, not this module. They are read from there rather than typed again, so there is one copy.

What this tool adds is the part that is usually missing: goals that are trackable and initiatives that deliver them.
Goals and initiatives
- A strategic goal
- Something you intend to achieve, with an owner, a due date, measures that say whether it happened, a progress figure, and any goals it depends on.
- An initiative
- A piece of work that moves a goal, with milestones, a budget, its own risks, and a status.
- One owner per goal. Shared ownership of a strategic goal reliably produces no owner.
- Record dependencies where they are real. A goal blocked by another goal that nobody has started is the finding worth having early.
- Fewer goals. An organization with fourteen strategic goals has no strategy, it has a list.
Reviewing it honestly
The Strategic Execution Diagnostic, in the Diagnostic Center, asks whether your strategy is actually guiding decisions rather than whether a plan exists. Those are different questions and most organizations pass the second and fail the first.
